Inktober 2020

Goodbye October 👋🏻

I participated in inktober this year (for the first time since my failed attempt of 2018) and completed it! This is a major accomplishment for me, seeing as I’ve never created so many pieces at such a fast rate. I didn’t even know I could do it! Production rate is something I’ve seriously struggled with over the years. In this month, in these 31 pieces, I’ve created more than I have in my entire two years of oil painting. I dunno about you, but I think that’s pretty rad! I intentionally set myself up for success when planning my inktober workload. I decided to just go for the mushroom theme- the same theme I chose for 2018. Though this time I was working in oils as opposed to watercolors. I knew mushrooms would be fairly simple and quick to create, as it’s a subject I’m very familiar with. I did do a little bit of prep and painted a few days at a time. This worked for me as I knew I would become burned out soon if I had to paint and photograph and post a new painting every single day. This worked great for me, and though I was ready for it to be over by the last five days, I’m incredibly proud that I completed the challenge. I had a great time discovering and learning about new mushroom species. Over all it was a fun experience and I’m looking looking forward to pushing my creativity and productivity in the months to come. I included a little gallery of my very favorite inktober creations at the bottom of this blog post, if you’d like to have a look. If you wanna see all 31 pieces, you can check out my Instagram

I'm currently working on getting Etsy listings of these pieces made, as well as prints and information cards. They will all be for sale soon, so keep an eye out if you want to snag one of these guys.

I'm also going to be hosting a giveaway, in which I gift one winner the inktober original painting of their choice, and three winners a set of three mini inktober prints!

The best place to stay in-the-know is on my instagram so if you're interested in purchasing an inktober or entering for the giveaway, head over to the link below.
