This piece, titled I Heard A Thousand Blended Notes, was inspired by Victorian Ornithological taxidermy. I discovered the intricacy and beauty of the birds posed inside glass cases and curios and couldn't help but be inspired to paint it. The title is inscribed on the gold base of the bell jar and was taken from my favorite poem, Lines Written In Early Spring by W.Wordsworth.

I discovered this poem when I was around ten years old in a book called The Country Diary Of An Edwardian Lady by Edith Holden. I always return to this poem when creating art, as it expresses what I want my artwork to portray.

With this piece, I wanted to highlight the various songs that can be heard amongst the trees as birds sing their favorite tunes, hence the title I Heard A Thousand Blended Notes. I wanted to express how important and beautiful birds are and what they share with us every day if you just take a moment to listen.
